The Hoot was started by our second poet laureate Robert Dunn and continues to thrive almost twenty years later!
The first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Get there early to get a good seat.
Doors open about 6 pm.
Cafe Espresso, 738 Islington Street (in the 800 Islington Plaza), Portsmouth, NH. Cafe Espresso is a full-service restaurant and dinner is available!
There are two featured readers and an open mic immediately following. Bring a poem and be ready to read. Open mic participants may read one poem and be no longer than three minutes. Please: no announcements from the podium. See below for listing of upcoming featured hoot readers.

If you are coming from a distance, not sure of your arrival time, and want to be sure to have a chance to read, please send an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to us a day or so ahead of the Hoot you plan to attend. We’ll do our best to make sure you get a spot to read.
